Traditional electronic circuit manufacturing using lithography requires resource-intensive subtractive processes—like etching and cleaning— that must be carried out in a cleanroom environment, whereas printed electronics manufacturing simply entails adding material to a substrate. A number of printing techniques are available. The most suitable technique is chosen according to the target physical properties, resolution, ink costs, number of samples to be produced, and TRL.
